Cup of Empties: November 2017

My sweet Buttercups!

I know it’s still early, but I’m already planning for my vacation next year. As I didn’t get the chance to go the past three years, I am insanely excited. I’ve already started obsessively looking up stuff to do, stuff to buy, streetfood to eat, metro maps,… I’m planning on going to Asia (most likely Taiwan) and I wouldn’t be a beauty blogger if I wasn’t planning on hauling some make up goodies back here. So you know what that means… I need to use up as much products as possible to make room for more, muhahahah!

Behold my cup of Empties! My last Empties post is from May, can’t believe it’s already been 6 months! It’s a long one, so grab on a hot coco or warm tea ;D.

Totally off topic, but so happy with my huge Cecemel cup!! I was waiting to use it for this blog post! A huge cup of hot chocolate with this chilly cold weather!

Let’s first start with the scrubs.

Clarins Gentle Refiner (Exfoliating cream with natural microbeads)

I got this 15ml sample from my mom. I didn’t find this product to be anything special. It smells a lot like a Nivea product. And I guess it’s an okay scrub, but it didn’t blow me off my socks. So I’m not likely to purchase this one.

Tony Moly Latte Art Strawberry

Yes, you’ve guessed it! I mainly bought this because it’s so cute! It smells exactly as it sounds: sweet and milky like a strawberry latte. I wouldn’t purchase it again, I prefer the Tony Moly Coffee scrub by far. This one was okay, but it just smelled too sweet to my liking.

Rituals Ayurveda Scrub (Indian Rose & Multani Clay)

A nice body scrub, but not my favorite from Rituals. It often comes in the gift boxes from Rituals!

20171119_144320

Rituals The Ritual of Karma Cleanse Your Mind & Body Scrub

Rituals seriously makes the best body scrubs. The product scrubs insanely well, but also leaves an oily film on your skin, which is nicely absorbed without feeling sticky or greasy. And the best of all, is that the heavenly and relaxing scent lingers for quite a long time on the skin. So I’d get a whiff every time I bring my hand to my face. Heavenly! Definitely a Favorite!

Next up are some cleansers.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam

You all know it’s a favorite of mine! And if you don’t, go check my last year’s favorites here and my review here. I also got my BF’s mom hooked on this stuff!

Kruidvat: Micellar water 3 in 1 for sensitive skin

Long time readers will also recognize this product as one of my favorites. I even like it better than the Bioderma micellar water. And that, my friends,… says a lot.

20171119_144513

L’Oréal Skin Expert Purifying Clay Gel (with pure clays, argiles and eucalyptus)

I used this product after I’d remove my make up. It works fine, though it’s not super special either. It always left my skin a bit dry, but that’s not really a problem as I apply cream after that. I’d probably repurchase this product in the future as it has a good quality price ratio.

Rituals Magic Touch Whipped Body Cream (Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk)

I’ve featured this one in a previous empties post. I’ll continue to buy it until the end of times. Meet my ride or die body butter!

Nivea Q10 plus anti wrinkle replenishing pearls

I wrote a little review a while back (read it here). I really liked how it made my skin less tired and reduced slightly my under eye lines. I’ll probably repurchase this.

Kruidvat Hydrating Eyecream

A cheap and rich cream for the eyes, though I do believe it’s an all purpose cream. If I’d happen to need an eye cream at the end of the month again (you know, when your bank account is back to being skinny), I’d be likely to go for this one again. But to be honest, I don’t know what it does for my skin. I just religiously believe you need to hydrate the area around your eyes well :p. Hopefully I can thank myself in a couple of years…

I used an older picture as the empty jar is broken… 🙂

Let’s finish off with some make up products.

Catrice: HD Liquid Coverage Foundation (24H)

It’s my 3rd bottle, need I say more! This product was also featured in my empties and favorites before.

20171119_144327

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream SPF 30/PA ++

I can’t even count the amount of BB creams I’ve used up from Etude House. For a BB cream, it has a really nice coverage. But I’m especially hooked on the scent of this product. Because to be completely honest, it doesn’t completely dry down and tends to move around. I’ve fixed that issue by using an aftershave balm as a primer, which sucks the product to my skin and powdering it on the T zone seals the deal. What can I say, I have a soft spot for Etude House products.

Essence Stay All Day Translucent Fixing Powder

It’s actually not as finely milled as I’d like it to. I used it up, so obviously it’s not awful, but I’ve used better ones before (like the NYX HD fixing powder, urgh… BOM). So I won’t repurchase it.

20171119_144243

Essence Instant Matt with EVERMAT fixing spray (oil free)

In May, we did a Belly Dancing show in my little village and I got to do the make up of five pretty ladies with very different skin types (read my post on the show here or watch me dancing here and here). I remember that it was frikkin’ hot that day and that I was sweating like there was no tomorrow. And this setting spray held everyone’s make up perfectly. I just needed to blot off the sweat but other than that, the make up stayed on the whole day. It’s a winner!!

L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion

I never did a review on this, just because I wasn’t feeling this product. It has a very sheer coverage and I just didn’t feel like it did much for my skin except for making it look shiny, which is not a look I usually go for… I also find these cushion foundations so expensive. Yes, you get a nice case, but so much less product than a normal foundation. I don’t know, I’m just not digging this trend.

Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Gloss in Beso

BesOmé, BesOmé Muchooooo,… I know it’s Besame Mucho, but seriously this product makes your lips look like you’d want to kiss them. It’s so natural, shiny, smooth,… It’s my perfect nude lip! Can’t believe I’ve used it up. I usually don’t really use up lip products that often… So if you’re still wondering, YES, I’ll repurchase it!

20171119_144306

Btw, I featured this product in my favorites last year!

Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster in 040 Nuts about Mary!

A much cheaper alternative to the Urban Decay one, is definitely this Catrice baby. If you don’t like lip plumpers, you’ll want to skip this one. But the shade is so juicy and pretty and looks good on ANYONE! It’s already been featured in my favorites last year!

Cozz Cosmetics Gel Liner

Last but not least, I have here my Cozz gel liner, which only cost me 1€! I haven’t used it for a while now, so now it’s dried down. I’ll have to throw the rest away. But oh well, for that price, I’m not complaining! You can read my thoughts on this product and brand here.

Here’s how it looked like in better days :p. It’s now all dried out and the letters faded completely. But hey, that means it received lots of love!

Soooo, that was it for my cup of Empties! Have you also used these products before? How do you like them?

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little post and I’ll talk to you guys in the next one!

Love,

Sarah

    Hi Sarah!
This was a great post! They were all new products that I haven’t used before. I do love products by Rituals and now I think I am going to get myself a good body scrub.
I hope you will have a wonderful vacation! Taiwan?! I have always wanted to go. Have you gone before?

Hi Alana, thank you so much!!! It was a joy writing it and I was happy to finally empty my bin :p. I love Rituals, they carry my favorite body butters and scrubs. But their lip glosses are also wonderful! Taiwan will definitely be a first. I’ve been to several Asian countries, but I’m very excited about Taipei! I’ll be sure to write a post about it. I start planning early, but the trip is only for in March! Have you been to Asia before? xoxo Sarah

        Hi Sarah!
I didn’t know that Rituals makes a lip gloss. I will have to get one 🙂 Your first time in Taiwan that’s exciting! I haven’t traveled nearly enough. I think the only Asian country that I have been to is Japan and that was on our way to Guam and I was very young both times. The only other far away place I have been so far is New Zealand and I am planning on traveling more, but first I need to finish school.
You are smart to plan early because March will be here before we know it. Isn’t that a slightly frightening thought?!

Hi Alana!! Yes Rituals makes very nice lip glosses, very nourishing and nicely scented. I love traveling. I also didn’t travel while I was still at school. I just didn’t have the time, nor the means. When I got my first job, I started traveling: first Vietnam, Japan and Singapore. I always tell myself to go elsewhere in the world, but Asia always pulls me… I might have to delay my trip to Taiwan though. Because I’m having this belly dance festival show that I really don’t want to miss :D! Anyhows, there are so many things to look out for this year. I’m excited! How is school going for you? Do you still have many years to do?

        love, Sarah

        Hi Sarah!
That’s wonderful that you make it a point to see the world. A belly dance fesitval?! Are you performing?! I am a junior in college so more than halfway through, but I had a really rough quarter this past fall. I got a bad case of meningitis and had to take medical leave. I start again this upcoming Monday and am so glad that I have recovered enough to go back. In 2017 I learned and finally accepted that I haven’t been dealing with stress well at all because everytime I let it get the best of me; I either got really sick or badly injured. This year I am focusing on my health and following through with commitments I make. I hope this will be a wonderful year for you, Sarah!!!

Hi Alana, yes I’ll be performing!! 😀 I am looking forward to that. I’m so sorry to hear you had meningitis!! Stress really is something that comes with our ambitions but also with our high expectations. Sometimes, you have to think to be kind to yourself, to strategically choose a certain activity knowing you’ll be able to do it, and leave out the things you can’t (even though you don’t want to). It’s difficult to make choices… But we always start our year with lots of hope and optimism! I also sure hope you’ll have a great year Alana!! Let’s work towards it! xoxo Sarah
