Hello my friends,
I am finally sitting down to write my second part of the Cup of Favorites. This is so exciting because as you guys will know (if you’ve read my previous posts) that my favorite things to buy are eyeshadows and lip products! I have discovered some great products in 2016 that I’d like to share with you!
Now before I can continue… I need to include 2 favorites that I forgot in my previous post (skincare products and face make up)!!! How could I?? These products I’m about to mention are soooo good!
If you haven’t checked my previous post, here it is: Cup of Favorites: 2016 Part I – Skincare products & Face make up
Skincare products
5. Estée Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam
This product is magic!! I love this because it plumps up my skin and I really can tell the difference in the morning. It’s like it literally repairs your skin at night! Check my post for a more in depth review: Cup of Reviews: Cup of Reviews: Estée Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam
Face Make Up
6. Urban Decay Naked Flushed – in Naked
I forgot to include this fella, because it is practically living in my purse. This 3 in 1 product comes in a nice compact, sleek and sturdy packaging. The fact that it looks great on many skin tones and gives you that natural glow (that highlighter is to die for) is what made me fall in love with it!! The bronzer and blush are pigmented, but natural looking.
Now, onto the next part of my Cup of Favorites! I hope I’m not forgetting anything! This past year, I’ve mainly bought drugstore products that are easy available at my local drugstore. So you’ll see many of these products. I think, you’d want to grab a (healthy) snack (New Years resolution, right ;D) and something to drink, because this is a long one!
Eye Make up
1. Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base
Every week I go to my local drugstore and I had seen this product, but never thought much of it… When I read about a review on the blog Glow (Here), I thought I’d give it a shot. I’ve been using it since almost half a year now and I think it performs like any other high end primer like Too Faced & Urban Decay. I forgot to use it this morning and I really had issues blending the shadows out and they weren’t as vibrant. You often only know how much you love it, when you miss it… It’s so affordable and reliable. 2. Essence All About Eyeshadow Pallets
Meat my wing buddies! I love using these in combo with a more colorful pallet. But on lazy make up days, I could slap on a one shadow look on my eyes and it would still look like I used several shadows even if it’s only one color. It has so much dimension to it. My most used pallets are the Bronzer and Greys. The Greys are great to make smoky eyes and then I usually add a vibrant color or glitter (UD Moondust pallet). Especially the 2 grey eyeshadows 3rd from the left are wonderful to work with! These retail for 3,99€. Yup, you read it right! You need it!
3. Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons pallet
I won’t show you my own pallet because it’s been used and loved so much that it doesn’t look how it used to hahah! I have hoarded many pallets these past years. But this one is my most used. The colors are very versatile, not too warm, not too cold, just perfect. I also like using this pallet to create a simple neutral look and add a vibrant color from the UD Electric pallet. 4. freedom Pro HD Brow Palette
This baby was incredibly cheap! I think I paid 7€ for this pallet. I’ve used it on many people and it didn’t fail me once. The eyebrows look defined, but also elegant, soft and not over te top. It looks so natural!
5. Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara
I’ve always loved my Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara. But throughout 2016, I’ve tried this one and at first I didn’t like the brush, nor the clumpyness. But somehow it grew on me. And now I just love it!
6. Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Eyeliner
I’m usually more a gel liner than a marker type of girl. The reason why I normally prefer a gel liner is, because when I wear a lot of eyeshadow the gel liner goes on opaque and strong. While the markers that I’ve used in the past would fade at the touch of the eyeshadows and dry out fast. This juicy and opaque sketch marker is the BOM!
7. Cozz Cosmetics Gel Liner
Bought this little guy 3 months ago for 1€, still hasn’t dried out and is nicely opaque and smooth. Need I say more! I did a review on it: Cup of Reviews: Hidden Gems of Cozz Cosmetics.
8. Etude House Tear Eye Liner
I love me some shimmer and glitter on the inner corner of the eyes. I love this one from Etude House. It’s cute (you know my addiction for cute packaging), the color is nice and the shimmer is WHAM in your face :D! Just the way me likes it!!
9. Colourpop Creme Gel Colour
I’ve used these for the past summer to amp up my eye looks with vibrant colors. They are smooth and opaque! I just saw on their website they don’t have “Piggy Bank” (a pigmented violet color) anymore :'(. Hopefully they’ll come out with even more fun colors!
Lip Products
I’ve done a post on lip favorites in July last year (check it here). I still love those products. But in the meantime, I’ve also found some new amazing products that I love!
1. Maybelline Vivid Matt Liquids
Definitely need to mention these again. I love how comfortable they feel on the lips! I’ve also purchased the color “Posessed Plum” which I love in this colder and darker season.
2. Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster
This product is moisturizing and plumping the lips! The formula is so nice. I love the plumping sensation. If you don’t like a strong tinkling feeling on the lips, you might want to skip on this. I particularly like the shade 040 Nuts about Mary. This color looks great on so many skin tones! I used this one on Cris’s make over (check it here).
One thing though! Catrice, if you are reading this, please… please change your packaging. I love your gloss formula’s, but it drives me insane when the product is accumulating in the cap. So after a while, when I use it, it would ooze out when I close the lid. It got a couple of my favorite bags dirty…
3. Peripera Lumi Pang
I’ve talked before about how much I love these!!! Just needed to mention them again! I love all their colors! But I do tend to like their pinkish colors more (see below).
4. Essence Prettyfying Lip Oil
You all know how I have issues with my dry skin around the mouth. The past couple of months it just looked horrible… This oil has helped me out a lot. It literally smells like strawberry candy.
5. Cozz Lipbalm
This one has become a staple in my beauty collection. I don’t know where you can buy it. I’ve only seen it once at my drugstore, Kruidvat. But I stocked up 3 balms to be sure haha. It was only 1€. I still regret this day I didn’t buy more. Because it is so much more moisturizing than the EOS lip balm.
6. Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss
So the fabulous day, I decided to buy this amazing gloss, I really looked horrible: but my lips looked like I was half a flesh eating zombie: they looked dry, red, irritated, were flaky,… You get the picture. So my girl, Séverine at the Urban Decay Counter from Antwerp recommended me this gloss. And OMG, it really is nourishing and longwearing! I went for the color Beso, which looks like the color of my lips, but better!
7. Colourpop Lippiestix
I have 4 words: Moisturizing, colorful, LOVE IT! I’ve reviewed them a while back (Check it here). My favorite shade would be Whip (a lovely orchid color)!
8. NYX Intense Lip Butters
Ever since I posted a picture wearing this product in the shade Berry Strudel, my mom and her friends have been crazy about this color! It is CRAZY how pigmented these are. I tried 3 (Berry Strudel, Spice Cake & Black Cherry Tarte) shades and loved all of them! I will most definitely expand my collection in 2017, no doubt about that!
This concludes my loves for 2016! Please let me know what you thought of it. Have you tried these products before? Was this post too long? I usually don’t buy that much products, so it doesn’t make sense to me to do a favorites each month. But maybe a seasonal one. Because I do change up the products when the seasons change…
Thanks for your time, feedback and support!
Love,
Sarah

Great post! I’ve only recently discovered the Essence line, great products for super cheap! The nail polish stays on really well, I just wish they had more colors at my local Ulta. I’ll have to try that lip oil.

Glad you enjoyed my post! If you like their nail polish, make sure you also use their primer and top coats! It makes my nail polish stay for 5 days before it starts chipping. That lip oil also comes in other scents :).

Yes I lovee bronzer and blush pallets, they are my absolute favorite!!! You can just never go wrong with Urban Decay Naked palettes theyre the best! I also love matte lip products, the plum one on your lips suit you so well! I personally really like the nude thrill one just cause I’m a nude-toned kinda gal lol I wanna to search for those. They look really great on, but just to confirm (bc I know matte products tend to be on the dryer side) but does it dry out your lips badly or is it fine?

Hi Jenny, they are creamy and on the matt side, but not completely matt. They feel very soft and moist on your lips! I have very very very dry flaky lips and these feel great! You could of course try one out first. You’ll indeed love the Nude Thrill. I’m usually afraid of those colors because they could wash me out. But this one’s perfect! xoxo Sarah

I have ultimate dry flaky lips too which is my struggle because I love matte but that brand sounds perfect it has like a happy medium of both!

Aw thank you! That’s very sweet of you! People are often scared of bright colors. But with the right blending shades, it can be muted and look classy. xoxo Sarah

how can you pull off literally every lip color you try? That’s not fair

Aw thank you!! I do have to tell you a secret though… I stay away from warm toned colors haha. Every shade I pick is slightly cold and I usually pick out pinks and purples for the lips. I think everyone can pull off different shades of lip colors if they use the right tone! You’ll rarely see me wear oranges or baby pinks or super nudes, that would totally wash me out. Thanks for stopping by :). xoxo Sarah
