Cup of Looks: Valentine’s Day – Sweet or Sultry

Hello Beautifuls,

I hope you’re having a great week so far! So what are you planning for Valentine’s day this year? Are you the Valentine’s-too-commercial-and-expensive type of person or are you more the I-wanna-be-extra-romantic-on-Valentine’s-day type of person? I have to say I am the latter. Even though I like to surprise my BF on regular days and do sweet and romantic things in general, Valentine’s day is like an additional excuse to do something extra just for the two of us. My BF has been quiet busy with work lately and he has been stressed, so I think my Valentine’s day will be staying in, cooking something he loves and light an extra couple of scented candles and a glass of wine haha. It’s all about enjoying the little things, right!

So I’ve created 2 simple and quick looks, that you could obviously wear anytime of the year: a sweet look and a more sultry look. But Valentine’s day was just a fun excuse to pull out my Sweet Peach pallet again. My second look is done with my Essence All About Eyeshadow pallets in Roses (I’m going to do a separate post on these pallets very soon, they’re so good that they need their own little spot on this blog).

I also went ham at the NYX store in Brussels, so I definitely wanted to test out those products. Oh by the way, what do you think of my Feature Image :D)))? I’ve been trying out some looks for this blog ;D.

A sweet Valentin’s day look

I wanted to make a quick and simple, peachy, pink look. And I was also looking forward to just do a look with the shades Just Peachy and Candied Peach, such soft and lovely colors. Just Peachy has the perfect amount of subtle shimmer. And the glitter in Candied Peach is really  not noticeable. It actually looks quite matte.

Eyes:

  • Essence I ❤ Stage Eyeshadow Base
  • Sweet Peach Pallet (See shades below):
    • First sweep Georgia in the crease and blend well
    • Apply Candied Peach on the outer half
    • Apply Just Peachy on the inner half
    • Using White Peach to highlight the browbone
    • With a small brush, apply Nectar on the inner corner

  • Too Faced Sketch Marker: With this felt tip eye liner, you can easily make a cat eye line.
  • Maybelline Rocket Waterproof Mascara: 1st coat
  • Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara: 2nd coat
  • Freedom Eye brow Pallet

Face:

  • NYX Angel Veil primer: a lovely and soft smoothing primer!
  • L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation: probably known as the Lumi Cushion Foundation in the States. It gives a light and dewy coverage.
  • NYX Dark Circle Concealer: a very natural peachy toned concealer.
  • ELF Blush Pallet Light: I applied the corally pinky shade on the apples of my cheek.
  • Sleek Solstice pallet: I used Hemisphere to highlight the cheek bones, the nose bridge and cupid’s bow.

Lips:

  • NYX Chunky Dunk Jumbo Lip Pencil in “Watermelon Cooler”. I think this lip shade is so sweet and effortless. It has a slightly plasticky scent that I don’t like, but it’s very subtle. I think it is also very smooch proof. It’s more a lip balm with a hint of color.

A sultry Valentine’s day look

I went for taupes and deep purples for the 2nd look. The smoked out look makes it easy and effortless, which was also the case! The darker berry lips ties the look together making it look dark and sexy. It went for completely matt.

  • Maybelline Rocket Waterproof Mascara: 1ste coat
  • Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara: 2nd coat
  • Freedom Eye brow Pallet

Face:

  • NYX Angel Veil primer: a lovely and soft smoothing primer!
  • Catrice HD Foundation: giving a very matt complexion without accentuating the dry patches
  • Bourjois Radiance Reveal Illuminating Concealer: I love this concealer and it smells divine!
  • NYX Ombre Blush in “Mauve Me”: of course, what else would I have chosen for this look! I love this blush!

Lips:

  • NYX Liquid Suede in “Subversive Socialite”: I applied this full on (super opaque, but does apply patchy) then dabbed it off with a tissue. OMG the first application looked like a very very dark purple. But after dabbing it off, the color faded to a lovely berry. I then applied it again and dabbed again. This works great, making the lips look soft like suede and it is completely smudge and smooch proof.

I hope you liked these 2 looks! My favorite look is definitely the first. I just love corally shades! Wishing you a great week sweeties and I’ll talk to you in my next post!!

Love,

Sarah

So hard to choose, I love them both. I think I’m more of a sweet than sultry so if I were to redo the look I’d have to go with sweet. Plus I love that pink shade, so pretty!

Thank you Jenny! I’m glad you like the looks! I also prefer the sweet look. For some reason, I don’t wear monochromatic eyeshadows as much, especially when it’s only matt!! xoxo Sarah
