Cup of Reviews: DIOR ADDICT – Lip Glow To The Max in Raspberry

Hello My Raspberry Smoothies,

Today I am reviewing a product I got from my bestie for New Years Eve. Even though she always knows what to get me, she claims it’s getting more difficult to find me products as I try out so many :p. So when she went to the store, she asked for a very recent release to be sure that I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet! Can’t go wrong with that!!

I personally don’t think I’ve tried out that many products haha, but I’m sure many would disagree :p. Out of all high end products, I must say lip products are my favorite things to try out. High end lip products may smell and feel differently on your lips, giving you that luxurious sensation. Aside from the fact that you are paying for a gorgeous packaging, you do hope for the product to be different from a drugstore product…

Let’s jump right into the review of Dior Addict Lip Glow To The Max in Raspberry.

The Packaging

Dior lip products always look gorgeous and unique. The cap is made of a pink transparent plastic, with the words “Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm” in silver. You’d expect to feel these letters to the touch. But it seems as though they are inside the plastic, so that they won’t fade. Love that detail! On the other side there’s the words Dior “carved” into the plastic.

The bullet is inside a metal tube with a cute little knob that is Dior’s trademark. The packaging feels nice and durable.

The Product & Its Claims

The bullet has 2 colors swirled like a candy. They both work together to revive your natural lip shade. One is responsible for the enhancement of your natural lip shade and the other gives the lips a pearlescent finish. As this product contains mango butter, it offers 24h hydration.

The Scent

It actually slightly reminds me of candy cane because it smells a bit like mint.

The Shade

This pink is a lot more baby pink than raspberry. It however isn’t too light, but it looks rather natural.

How does it perform?

Applying the product on my lips, I expected it to slide over it. But there is some kind of friction, like the stick isn’t hydrating enough. I’m guessing it’s because of the pearlescent part of the lipstick. That being said, after the application, my lips feel well hydrated, look shiny and have a light pink tint, even though it still allows my natural lip color to peek through.

After 4-6 hours, the shine and balmy feeling wears off, but there is still a tint on my lips, that is quite pinky and flattering. I’ve never been a big fan of pearlescent finishes. And this product tends to accumulate the pearlescence on the drier spots of the lips.

Oh and another thing I’d like to add is that, even though nowhere it’s mentioned that it has a lip plumping effect, I do feel like there is a very subtle tingling sensation that probably comes from the mint, I imagine in this product.

My Final Thoughts

It’s a nice tinted lip balm, though to be honest, I’ve used other high end products before that had more of a luxurious feeling. This product works well, but I do miss the balmy-ness to be stronger. I expect it to slide over my lips and give it a luxurious feeling. Given the price tag, I’d probably not purchase any other color. But I will of course enjoy using this one. I like to combine this product with another one, as I’m not a huge fan of the pearly finish on the dry spot of my lips.

I’ve purchased around the same time also a new lip product from Yves Saint Laurent, so I’m excited to compare the two.

Hope you enjoyed this quick review! Enjoy your week and I’ll talk to you soon!

Love,

Sarah

Ooo love the swirly design & the baby pink looks nice on you. I hate when a lipstick doesn’t quite glide across your lips though! I’ve never tried anything by Dior before but I just threw out a pack of mini Yves St. Laurent lippies. 😛

Yup, not liking the non gliding part either. You threw out YSL lippies? Whuuut? hahaha It must depend on which formula I guess. But I love their balms. They glide on like there’s no tomorrow. And the moist and glow, ughhh looooove it!

    Hi Sarah!
I really enjoyed this review and this looks like such a fun product. I love the combo of pearlescents and a little color and it is so pretty on you. I am also obsessed with mint everything. My lips have been on the dry side lately, though, so I will porbably have to find something more moisturizing! Hope you will have a great week!

Hi Alana, I’m happy you liked this review :D. I sometimes go through a very dry lips period. Because when I’m tensed I tend to lick my lips making them very dry. And the dry patches have the tendency to expand after a while. My trick is: 1. Use a liquid balm and not a stick form, as it moisturizes better. 2. Have several balms throughout the house (night stand, bathroom, living room, purse). 3. Apply some the moment it’s dry again. Especially before you go to bed. After a week it should heal. xoxo Sarah

Thanks lady! I am going to try this out. I definitely think having lip balms more readily available will help remind me to moisturize.
