Cup of Reviews: Etude House – Soft Drink Lip Tint in Great Grape

Hello my refreshing Grape Granita’s!!

Today I have a question for you: Do you have darker looking lips or a lighter lip shade? I naturally have lighter looking lips. I’ve had people tell me I look like a corpse when I don’t wear anything on my lips :p.

Problem is, I’m not one to reapply often. I sometimes have a busy schedule at work. And when I’m concentrated, I just don’t think of reapplying lipstick or gloss. So when I put something on my lips, I need it to stay for quite a couple of hours. If it stays on a whole day, even better!! Furthermore my partner doesn’t like it when I wear red lips and when it gives off color on his lips. He loves the shade, just not the fact that it comes off…

The answer to those problems is a good lip tint or lip stain! What I call a good lip tint is:

  • You don’t feel it: it’s like you’re wearing nothing. Unless you’ve added 6 layers :p, then you might feel it. But even so, it will gradually seep into the lips.
  • It’s absorbed into the skin: It’s not a layer that sits on top of your lips. It’s absorbed into the skin and leaves nothing on the surface.
  • You can’t rub it off: absolutely smooch and food proof. You can eat and drink an entire day, it doesn’t rub off like a lipstick does.
  • You can layer it: It will looks as intense as you choose it to be. This also allows you to create several looks with just one product.

The Korean market is saturated with great lip tints, which come in the most cute packaging you’ll ever see. The one I’ll be reviewing today is the Etude House Soft Drink Tint in Great Grape (PP501).

The Packaging

It looks like a sturdy mini soda bottle. I don’t need to tell you how CUTE I think this looks :p. Some of my colleagues were wondering what it was :p. You can twist the upper part and pull out a doe foot applicator. Pretty straightforward to use, if you ask me :p.

On Cosmetic-Love, the product retails for €6.31 fr 4.6g worth of product. Etude House has a bunch of other shades:

  • Milky Soda: a blue bottle, but it turns into a soft pink on your lips
  • Grapefruit Fantasy: a soft orange shade
  • Peach Tok Tok tok (what a cute name!): a chorally, peachy pink
  • Zero Red: a true red shade

The Scent

It really smell like a grape soda drink. The smell is strong when it is applied to the lips, but after a couple of seconds, it disappears. This doesn’t bother me at all, as I like strong scented products.

The Texture

It’s watery like most lip tints. It feels cold when applied and settles pretty quickly into the lips.

How does it perform?

It complies completely to my list of requirements:

When applied on the lips, the first minute you can still feel it on your lips, meaning that it is very slightly sticky. But afterwards, you don’t feel it sitting at all. It absorbs quickly into the skin.

Once settled, you can rub with your fingers over your mouth, nothing will come off! The only way you’d get it off is when you bite the skin off your lips, which I don’t recommend :p. It does seem to react differ

ently on the lips than on an arm… It takes more time to absorb into the skin. So I rubbed off the excess (2nd picture). And after 30 seconds, I rubbed hard on my arm, it does come off, but you can still see the stain.

The shades are buildable. The color itself is a gorgeous deep grape pink shade. With each layer added, the lips become a deeper shade, which looks beautiful! What I like about this product is that you can apply lip balm first, if your lips a dry. This will tone down the shade a bit if you find it to be too intense. But you can also apply gloss or lip balm on top, without it budging.

The product wears for about 6h or even more. It fades very softly. I usually reapply my lipbalm on top and that helps it to stay longer on the lips.

Here’s a picture of me wearing this lip product. And in case you were wondering, yes I was wearing the Etude House Play Color Eyes Beach Party on my eyes ;D. It was my Christmas Eve look. Shall I also post a how to for that look?

My final Thoughts

Who remembers Britney’s hit: Gimme gimme gimme gimme, more!

Yup, me loves this product! Especially because you can create several looks with this. You could also just add the shade in the center of your lips to create a doll like look. I’ll probably get some more shades some day, especially the Peach Tok Tok Tok is calling my name :p.

My favorite way to wear it is I apply 1 or 2 layers and add a glossy lip product on top to keep it moist and juicy looking. Even after that the gloss fades, the color will stay intact.

If you’ve never tried a lip tint before, I seriously recommend it!

Hope you enjoyed this review! Have a wonderful, sunny and productive week!

Love,

Sarah

Well, thanks for convincing me to try a lip tint and even more specifically Etude House. I’ve been meaning to get into Asian beauty for so long but I never know where to start. I think I can find Etude house on Amazon, so that’s really cool.

I have the same problem as you: I love wearing lip products but I’m too busy at work to re-apply when needed (and my boyfriend hates everything I put on my lips for the same reasons as yours lol)
