Cup of Reviews: Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara Waterproof

Hello Beautifuls,

I’ve received from Daisy (Life as Daisy) a Blogger Recognition Award! I’m super thankful to her! Go check out her amazing blog! She has many travel posts, beautiful pictures and lovely beauty posts! This is my 3rd Blogger Recognition Award and I’m so thankful for the fact that I’ve gotten to know such nice people on WordPress and share my passions and being appreciated for it. The feeling is indescribable. You can find my initial post here.

I have another review for you guys today: a Bourjois mascara! My lashes are like my hair. Straight, straight and… straight. I can curl my hair (with or without heat), it’ll stay for a couple of hours and go back to being straight. I have the same difficulties to hold the curl on my lashes. I always try to look for a mascara that holds my lash curl perfectly throughout the day, volumizes and lengthens them. For instance, the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara is a cult favorite. But it doesn’t work for me at all, as my curl is completely undone applying this product…

Now, you may wonder why I find this stupid curl so important! I have small eyes and when I laugh it just becomes one line haha. So I need to curl the lashes to make myself look more open and awake.

A while back my local drugstore, Kruidvat, had a special offer for the brand Bourjois: buy 2 for 15€, which is such a bargain. One mascara is usually 13€-16€, so I immediately picked up 2 mascara’s. The one I’ll review today is the Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara Waterproof. I always buy my mascara’s waterproof… I feel like those hold my lash curls better.

The packaging

Bourjois always has very cute and chic packaging. The little bottle looks very sleek. The brush is narrowed at the tip and the bristles are quite separated, unlike the thick dense brushes I usually go for. This one allows you to get to the lashes at the corner of your eyes.

How do I feel about this product?

How better to show you, by doing a demonstration!

Don’t be afraid, but… the bushy brow monster you see below is my bare eye, them bushy brows and my charming purple dark circles, haha! I already took off all my make up. It’s about midnight now (I pre-schedule my posts), if that ain’t devotion and love for this blog!! I just wanted to show you how straight my lashes are and how the mascara looks without any other make up on:

When I curl my lashes, this is how they look like:

The Bourjois product was applied after I curled my lashes. After already the 1st coat, it pulls my lashes a bit down. It’s like they make my lashes poke straight out. I tried applying several coats, but it looked like straight spider legs. It’s not very clear on the picture, but it’s like it flattens out the lash hairs.

I wasn’t very happy with the results, but I couldn’t just throw it away, so I decided to try to use it in combination with another mascara. The one I’m currently using is the Maybelline Rocket mascara. This is how it looks like with the Rocket mascara alone (sorry for the blurry pictures, my lighting in the bathroom isn’t the greatest). As you can see, it holds the curl pretty well.

So I tried to apply the Bourjois mascara on top of the Maybelline mascara and this is what you get:

The results were beautiful. Adding the Bourjois Mascara made my lashes look fuller, more black, longer and separated! The perfect combo. And the curl stayed in place!! This is how I wore it last week, with the mascara combo:

If you have pretty straight lashes, like I have and that you need to curl them in order to make a beautiful make up look, this mascara alone might also not work for you. But as this is so personal, you can always try it. I think the end result of both of the Maybelline and Bourjois mascara together looks really nice. But I have to admit, I think it is a lot of money to use 2 mascara’s at the same time, don’t you? This combination has the same effect as the Maybelline Lash Sensation Waterproof mascara, which remains at this moment my favorite.

I hope you found this review helpful and I’ll talk to you in my next post!

Love,

Sarah

That would be approximately the time needed for me to curl it haha. I guess we should just accept and treat our hair with love and respect that they are how they are… My hair is the healthiest when I let it be… Thanks for dropping by! xoxo Sarah

It’s the Asian eyes! Mine are straight too!!! It’s the absolute worst…I find myself curling before i apply and a million times after I apply and it usually lasts me the whole day but there are times where I’m like alright its time for a curling break BRB lol But woah the difference you’ve shown there is definitely noticeable! But I’m with you, a lot of mascaras I’ll have to layer and then on top of it use another one to get them where I want to be. Fortunately better than sex works on mine buttt I do find at times since it’s so volumizing it’s probably making them heavy which will inevitably lead to making them straight. BTW your final look…AMAZING!!!

    xo, JJ
